Celebrating the Very Best of Local Independent Pursuits
A little advice for those unfamiliar with I’m Not Gonna Move to L.A. – tickets sell out quickly!
Indie Film Club is teaming up with Film Gate Miami to bring you February’s installment of I’m Not Gonna Move to L.A at O Cinema, featuring 6 filmmakers previewing their works-in-progress and a chance for the audience to pick the winner of the evening’s top prize, a deluxe rental package from CineVideoTech that’s a “battle-tested to create the perfect arsenal” for independent filmmakers of all stripes.
This month’s competition is preceded by a free screening of select Miami transmedia projects, showcasing a range of stories shared across more diverse and participatory media formats that make up this new and experimental form of film making.
This wildly popular monthly film series is one of the many events offered by Indie Film Club Miami, an organization described by co-founder Diliana Alexander as a group to “to give [filmmakers] a voice, assist them with their production and promote their films. Maybe we will be able to attract the support of investors, and the government, to help prevent a heart braking loss of talent and to create a sustainable all-around industry.”
Drawing inspiration from the robust film industry in Toronto, an industry that creates jobs and hosts film festivals that are renowned throughout the world, Alexander sees potential in South Florida to become a respected filmmaking center in it’s own right.
